Steps I took to achieve Goal 4: I got a box ready to take to Goodwill. I ripped several DVDs. I organized some other digital items.

Yesterday I sat down and had a long conversation with myself that had been simmering for some time. My current twelve week cycle of goal achievement wasn’t working. Yes, March had been a busy month. Yes, my routine had been disrupted. But even so, I wasn’t doing the work on most of my goals, and the work I had been doing was half-assed. For weeks I had been telling myself that the next day, or the next week would be better, but I hadn’t followed through on that. My future self was any better than I was.

I think a big part of the problem was that I assumed that the four goals I set for myself during my first goals phase (blog, exercise, meditate, and eat healthy) were strong enough to be ongoing habits. In retrospect, I don’t think they were. I started beating myself up because I wasn’t doing them, which made it harder to work on my current goals

I decided it was time for a fresh start. As of today, here’s my new twelve week plan. In addition to working on four goals, I’m going to develop and reinforce four daily habits.

Daily Habits

  1. Eat healthy
  2. Exercise
  3. Meditate
  4. Post my habits and goals progress to this blog

Four Goals

  1. Complete The Artist’s Way program
  2. Reduce my debt by 2%
  3. Start a side business
  4. Declutter my digital and physical possessions

I’ll continue to use the Pick Four goals program and format to track my progress. Today is Week 1, Day 1. I’ll post my fist progress update tomorrow.

This restart feels good. I spent too much time over the past few weeks beating myself up over my lack of progress. Sometimes a restart is what’s needed. Time to look forward and move forward.

Starting a New Twelve Week Goals Program Tomorrow

My current twelve week goals program hasn’t been working, or more accurately I haven’t been working it. I spent some time today thinking about why that is, and decided to shut it down and start over tomorrow. Tomorrow I’ll post more about what I think happened and how I’m going to correct it.

Good Work Day

My team finally got some plans finalized today so work can ramp up again. More de-cluttering at home. Yard work tomorrow.
