You Can't Tell Me What to Do

In 2000, the United States declared that measles was eliminated from this country. Why? Vaccinations. Simple.
Of course, all it takes is a pandemic to convince some people that they shouldn’t do something because they think the government is trying to make them. (Spoiler: it wasn’t.)
As of 9 March, measles cases have been reported in at least 12 states, mostly in western Texas and New Mexico. Two people have died. One was a school-aged child. Think they were vaccinated? (Spoiler: they weren’t.)
NEWS4SA can tell you all about it.
But, hey, why would you do something that virtually guarantees that you won’t get this highly contagious, potentially fatal disease when you have alternatives?
For example, Reuters reports that the Children’s Health Defense, the anti-vaccine group led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., published an article claiming that high doses of Vitamin A will prevent measles. (Spoiler: it won’t.) RFK Jr. is now our Secretary of Health and Human Services. He seems qualified.
Or as MSN reports, take the advice of U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and have a measles party. Or maybe not, according to this article in Wired.
Here’s a tip. If Marjorie Taylor Greene suggests that you do something? Don’t.
I feel sad for the children affected by this awful behavior. Hopefully they survive and grow up to be more responsible than their parents or guardians.
